What is Robotics Technology

Since the invention of computers, human civilization has developed automation technology. The result of which is in front of us. Today, computer-programmed machines have come to do most of the human work in many fields.

What is Robotics Technology, Scope of Robotics Engineering, Application of Robotics
What is Robotics Technology | Application of Robotics

This is the reason that Robotics has now become an independent branch of Engineering. Now a lot of research work is being done on Robots. Because this is the technology of the future.

Definition of Robotics

Robotics is a study branch of engineering, in which Robotics Technology, concept, design, manufacturing, and operation are studied. This branch also includes electronics, computer science, Nanotechnology, mechatronics, biotechnology, and Artificial Intelligence

The word Robotics comes from Robot, introduced by Czech writer Karel Capek in his play R. U. R. (Rossum’s Universal Robots). The play was published in 1920.

The original Robot word comes from Robota, a Czech word meaning “labourer”.

According to the Oxford English Dictionary, the term robotic was first introduced into publication by Isaac Asimov with his science fantasy short story “Liar”. The author in his short story “Runaround” also gave three popular theories of Robotics, known as Asimov’s Three Laws of Robotics, which are still relevant today.

The Three lows of Robotics are

(A). Humans should not harm by Robots.
(B). Robots should follow the instructions of humans without first disobeying the rules.

(C). Robots must protect themselves without disregarding other rules.

Aspects of Robotics Technology

Different Types of Robots are available today. Which are using to do different tasks in different environments. However, three basic things are used to build a military robot and a medical robot.

That means, only one type of equipment in Robotics Technology and the theory is used in the manufacture of all types of robots.

Mechanical construction
Electronic construction

Mechanical construction

Robotics technology hardware design depends on Mechanical Engineering. All robots design in a particular shape and size. So that a specific goal can be achieved. Because you would not want to use a bird-shaped robot for swimming in the water. Only a fish-shaped robot can perform this task appropriately.

Electronic Construction

Electricity requires operating and controlling a robotic machine. Therefore electronic mechanisms are also found in all robots. A robot equipped with petrol or other fuels also relies on echelons to operate.

To get the robot to do a particular task, first, he has to tell about that task. Only then is he able to do that work. Robots are given the necessary instructions to do a particular task through computer programming. Only after this programming, the robot becomes intelligent enough to decide when what and how to do it.

Robots program in three ways (intelligent making process). Remote Control, Artificial Intelligence & Hybrid…

Remote Control

In this technique, some commands, program into the machine. Whom the robot executes only after receiving an order from the controller. Humans use remote control for execution. Therefore it also knows as remote controlling programs.

Artificial Intelligence & Hybrid

Robots with AI programming get entangle with the environment themselves and decide on the problems and obstacles to come. They are not controlled by humans. The robot decides when what and how to do it. The Use of Artificial Intelligence in Robots for this purpose. AI and RC mixed programming know as hybrid programming.

Types of Robots according to the Mechanism

Stationary Robots
Legged Robots
Wheeled Robots
Swimming Robots
Flying Robots
Swarm Robots

Mobile spherical Robots

Stationary Robots

Such robots fix in one place. They do all their work in one place. The direction of their position and movement fix. And in that position, these make to work. For example, robots that perform welding, drilling, and gripping are stationary Robots.

Legged Robots

When the grip of wheeled robots became very strong in the world of robots, scientists worked hard to make a better alternative instead. So that it has some limitations, it ends. Like a wheeled robot has to work, it can work only on a flat surface.

The Wheel Robot cannot climb stairs, but if the foot is set, it will climb. It is enough to make a machine work with its feet. But the way it takes 1 – 2 years for a human survivor to learn to walk, and then can a robot be put on the foot?

Yes, it is also possible. Many Robots have started walking. Such Robots are capable of moving in any environment and on bumpy surfaces.

Wheeled Robots

Wheeled robots are robots that move on the surface with wheels. Such robots are easier to create, programming, and design than legged. But they can only run on a flat surface.

Swimming Robots

The robot fish is a water swim robot. Whose shape and way of swimming is similar to that of a fish. Research on Swimming Robots was first brought to the fore by MIT University in 1989.

Flying Robots

Flying robots are Robots that are capable of flying. It also has a small size and non-human robots. Which can do many things. Such robots are used in search and rescue missions. It can easily find people trapped in any natural calamity in large areas of land.

Swarm Robots

When small robots work together in a large system, it is called swarm robots. A lot of robots that can work are based on their interaction with each other and the environment.

Mobile Spherical Robots

Spherical robots are called mobile spherical robots. They move by rolling or sliding on the surface.

Application of Robotics

Special robots are made for one type of task. Such as flying robots are called Flying Robot or Drones. They only fly and cannot walk on the ground. This robot would be unsuitable for other tasks. There is much Application of Robotics or Uses of Robots

Based on this, we can determine the working area of the robot. And in real life, their use can be identified. Currently, they are being used more for risky and beyond human activities.

Military Robots

They are being used for military work such as transportation, research work, rescue work, and attack. Nowadays, there is also talk of Robotic Soldiers. The day was not far when these robotic soldiers appeared gunning the borders. These also use in India. Daksh, a military robot created by DRDO. Which is being used to bomb blast.

Industrial Robots

Robots have been in use in production operations for many decades. The auto industry has become dependent on robots of more than 50 %. IBM’s keyboard production unit operates by robots since 2003. It is making us more suitable than humans for less expensive, irrational, and risk-free labor factories than human labor. That is why these use most in the production sector. Do you know that… Unimate is the first Industrial Robot.

Construction Robots

They are also being used extensively in manufacturing. 3D Printing Technology is its most practical example. Through which Netherlands country has created history by making the world’s first 3D printer bridge. Apart from this, Demolish Robots are also very popular for critical work. And automatic machines are used to carry the burden.

Agricultural Robots

The use of Robots in agriculture is still new. And currently, these are using in labor works like sowing. But sowing, ploughing, harvesting, crop information as per weather forecast, spraying of pesticides with drones, etc. are taking place in the future womb.

Medical Robots

In the medical field, robots use for complex and life-threatening tasks such as surgery. In Japan, a Robotics system called HOSPI (developed by Panasonic) is used for hospital delivery. The Da Vinci Surgical System uses in the US for surgery.

Nanorobots are also being developed which can destroy the inner cells and cancerous microbes by entering inside the human body.

Sport Robots

It is common in tennis games to use a Robotics Machine for marking on the field. But nowadays robots are using for marking in many sports fields. In cricket, robotic players, use a lot to throw balls at players. Similarly, the trend is increasing for other works also.

Other Robots

In addition to the robots describes above, kitchen robots, domestic robots, nanorobots, etc. are uses. The day is not far when a robot will be lifting your bed. Robots have already started to serve food in many hotels.

Summary of Robotics Technology

Robotics is the science and technique of design, construction, and Application of Robotics. Working in this field requires practical knowledge in many other fields except electronics, engineering, and software. Although the appearance and capabilities of Robots are quite diverse, they all have many similarities.

For example, mechanical movable structures and self-control all take place. The shape of the robotic structure is a human Asperger and knows as a pure-motion garland. This garland is its bones, promoters its meat muscles and joints, which give it one or more independent dimensions.

Most Robots are sequential beads, with one chain joining the other – these know as successive robots and are similar to the human hand. Other robots use parallel-speed beads in parallel. Under biology, research is going on to create structures by copying humans or other organisms. The final link of the beads is some kind of actuator, such as a mechanical hand or welding machine.

For practical work efficiency, Robots require ‘hands’ to lift, repair, or destroy objects. These hands are often the last link, called end effectors, on the Robotics Arms. Mostly these robotics hands are isolated. So that they can be changed according to work.

Scope in Robotics Engineering

Robotics is an emerging field. Therefore, new and excellent employment opportunities are available here. Those pursuing a career in robotics can work either in the manufacture of industrial robots or in the application-specific robot fields such as the use of robots in bomb deactivation and other security tasks. Domestic work, such as vacuum cleaning can also be done by robots. Continuing research in the field of robotics continues. There is immense potential for career building in this field too.

Scope of Robotics Engineering in India
