Role of Production Planning and Control in Industry

Production Planning and Control (PPC) is the most significant three strategies for growing any industry. So friends, let’s discuss What is Production Planning and Control. We have three words Production, Planning, and Control. So let’s discuss it one by one.

Production Planning and Control
Role of Production Planning and Control in Industry

What is Production

Production is a process in which the manufacturing process of goods runs on a large scale with the help of raw materials in the industry. If we talk in simple language, then the manufacture of the product in bulk is a production. The income and growth of the company depend on production. So the better the production, the higher the income.

Types of Production

(1) Unit type of production.
(2) Batch type of Production.
(3) Mass Production or Flow production.
(4) Continuous production or Process production

Unit type of production

In the unit type of production, the company manufactures the same product in larger quantities. This is the most prevalent type of production. This type of production uses in small startups or small industries. Because small startups or small industries initially manufacture one or two products.

Examples of Unit Types of Production – Textile companies, cake bakeries, and food industries, etc.

Benefits of Unit type of production

(A) This type of production requires very little cost.
(B) Possible to manufacture a large amount of product in a short time.
(C) Reduces workers’ effort which gives them more time for planning.

Batch type of Production

In the Batch type of Production, the company manufactures various types of products in batches. In this type of production, most of the company manufactures the product by taking orders. Like if someone’s customer demand is 120 products, then the company manufactures 120 products.

In the Batch type of Production, it is possible to manufacture a product with variations in the product. Also, the productivity of the company increases.

Example of the Batch type of Production – Samsung company manufactures refrigerators, coolers, TVs, etc, and also The Biscuits company manufactures different types of biscuits in batches.

Benefits of Batch type of Production

(A) Many tasks are possible in one time
(B) Production of the company increases
(C) Also, the productivity of the company increases

Mass Production or Flow type of production

The most accurate and best example of mass production or flow production is the automobile. It manufactures automobiles on a large scale. Also, it includes the assembly process. We include the assembly process in the example of mass production or flow production.

Mass production or flow production is produced under the supervision of experts, as it is very important to concentrate on the assembly line. A slight loss of focus can cause a major flaw in the product. Mass production or flow production type of production consists mostly of humanized actions. And also in mass production or flow production, all the products must manufacture uniformly.

Benefits of Mass Production or Flow

(A) Large-scale production is possible.
(B) Production requires supervision
(C) The production process is comparatively expensive, but the profit is high.
(D) The productivity of the company also increases and it is possible to manufacture products in different segments.

Continuous production or Process production

In continuous production or process production, the manufacturing process goes on continuously. In this, work continues with the cooperation of both humans and machines. But in this type of production involves less manual work and more work by machines.

Examples of Continuous production or Process production – Paper Manufacturers, Food and Beverage Manufacturers, Cement Manufacturers, and, Oil Refineries, etc.

Benefits of Continuous production or Process production

(A) Higher profit in production.
(B) Both Production and productivity increase.

There are four types of production. Now let’s talk about planning. So Let’s start discussing what is planning.

What is Planning

Determination of work is very important to perform any task. If a task is done without a strategy or planning, there are more chances of failure of work. And also requires more effort. As a result, the company will have to spend more. And it is not possible to complete the work on time.

Planning is a process in which one thinks about the activities required to complete a task and to prepare a roadmap. For example, if an automobile company has to manufacture a car, the first thing they have to do is to prepare the car’s design and assembly drawing. So that the process runs systematically and the work can complete on time.

What is Control

Control is a process or step that involves inspection and evaluation of work. It is a means of analyzing progressive work so that the work goes on smoothly with the proper system.

There is an important role of Production Planning and Control in Industry. So let’s start talking about Production Planning and Control in Industry.

Role of Production Planning and Control in Industry in Industry

Production Planning and Control is the process by which the process and the work are already determined so that the system runs smoothly and at a fast pace. Production Planning and Control involves the process of creating a systematic series for the manufacturer so that efficient use of resources is possible.

Benefits of Production Planning and Control

(A) Product quality increases
(B) Production increases. And also increase productivity.
(C) The production process is systematic and timely.
(D) The plan is already set, so production takes place at a fast pace.
(E) Determination of company expenses
(F) The creative arrangement so that the company gets the maximum benefit.
